The Kind Touch Foundation's Safety Policy

Overview

Kind Touch Foundation (KTF) believes that children deserve to live free of abuse, fear, and exploitation. Our mission as a non-profit organization is to prevent all situations that endanger children's safety. As part of our commitment to protecting the privacy and well-being of the children we care for, KTF conducts its programs in a way that respects their safety, privacy, and well-being.

KTF requests the cooperation of its sponsors and donors in enforcing its Child Safety Policy. We must take precautions against the few individuals who are not trustworthy, even though the majority of individuals are trustworthy.

Our goal at KTF is to enable you to establish a meaningful, satisfying, and secure relationship with your sponsored child. In order to ensure the integrity of our program, we ask that our sponsors adhere to the following guidelines.

Children’s Information on the Web

For the sake of safeguarding our children's privacy, we only provide limited online information about sponsored children. In this regard, KTF does not include last names, community names, or any other information that could identify the location of a sponsored child. Our sponsors are also expected to adhere to this policy. Do not publish the last name of your sponsored child online or on social media. KTF would, however, appreciate it if you could update your Facebook page with “I just sponsored a kid in Africa!” This may encourage others to do the same.

But it is not appropriate to post the child's picture and write detailed info about the sponsored child.

Photos or other information from children on the KTF website may not be downloaded, copied, or reproduced without prior written permission from KTF. KTF does not intend to distribute or use child profiles for any other purpose than providing sponsors with relevant information about the sponsor program.

Correspondence between Sponsors and Children

To ensure the safety of our sponsored children, we monitor and review all correspondence and gifts sent to them. To protect all parties' confidentiality, we do not allow children and sponsors to exchange contact information. All correspondence must be sent through KTF. Sponsors who have been with the program for a long period of time may be exempt from this requirement with the prior approval of the program director.

Keeping sponsors' privacy and security in mind, we do not allow sponsored children and their representatives to reach out to you directly without KTF's knowledge. To avoid inappropriate solicitation of additional funds, we want to prevent them from contacting you. Please notify our office if any contact initiated by your sponsored child or their representatives makes you feel uncomfortable.

Visits

Any visit to a sponsored child should be coordinated through KTF's Children Sponsored Program. Visits without prior notice are not permitted. A sponsorship visit application form must be completed before visiting a sponsored child. You may be required to undergo a background check. A KTF staff member must also accompany sponsors when they visit a child. We intend to ensure that children's safety and privacy are protected by these standardized regulations. Please send your request to visit a child to aelegbede@kindtouchfoundation.org or call +12406608157.

We appreciate your support in maintaining the safety of the children we support
